Thumbs down anyones sky given up

come home from work this morning at about 6.15am, and the mrs says theres no signal on the sky. it specifically says "no satellite signal is being received".

what a ball ache. assume its the windy conditions here in lincs, as after checking the sky dish outside, all seems fine. no un-connected wires.

so im stuck with the internet and wireless. cant watch my "hogan knows best" on mtv

The Satellite has apparently been blown out of orbit slightly due to the high winds .......

Try pulling the power plug out the back - leaving it a minute and then put it back in - I t might not work, but sometimes it sorts it out for me. Sky sometimes gets stuck in a "I'm not receiving any signal" rut

Our signal hasn't gone, but the sky+ box has just gone gone belly up, this is the second box.

Won't record anymore and the hard drives saying 39% free space with approx 5 saved programs and of course the warranty's up

Anyone else had this?

You can try a full system reset on it - it reformats the disk. Might work. Else it will just be a failed/failing hard disk. Replace that - reset it all, job done. Put a bigger one in whilst you are at it. There's loads of info on the net on how to do all that.

My Sky box sometimes appears to lock out so I do what you did, ie disconn the power and reconn it. It must reboot the box because it all comes back once it has sorted all the programmes out again.

As has been said above, reformat the drive. You will lose everything on it, but it solved the issue for me. You'll need to access the engineers menu, instuctions below:
