There was a trial on the gadget show about this last year.
They recommended taking out the battery and sim card, open it up as much as possible to get water out, and let it dry somewhere warm for a few days.
All the phones they tried this with, worked again fine.
Good luck.

My lovely daughter did this with my motorola a few years back. No matter the amount of drying, it never worked again. It was on at the time and got left in there for a good 10 minutes before i realised.

I have done this on more than one occasion. Just stick it in an airing cupboard for a day or so and it *should* be fine.
Just be thankful it wasn't a wifi phone you dropped down the toilet, or someone could easily have logged onto it.

The missus did this and it didn't work right even after the 'take it apart and put it in the airing cupboard' trick. Took it into Vodafone and they swapped it on the spot (still under the free insurance). Even let me keep the cover and battery so now we have spares.
He did say that often it may seem to work right but that there may be some moisture there that attacks the circuits later on. Seemed plausible and we weren't going to argue with a free phone. he also said the same about the battery though which I did disagree with .....
Yours insured? If it is then get rid.

i am an advocate of the "wash out in distilled water" then try to dry trick
most of the problem is not the fact that it has got wet but that the water contains salts which when dried out leave a deposit that is conductive. The distilled water wash should help prevent this before drying. (worth a try ands works about 75% of the time in my experience - you have nothing to loose really in giving it a try)
