Electricity Monitors
Just got one delivered, an Owl CM311, its great, you can see how much you are using in realtime in Pounds/Pence so cue loads of switching on and off of Electric equipment in the Jackson household, current best was 12p per hour and the worst £1.70 ! 40.9 p at the moment cos the dryer is going, I suspect that my wife may be hanging the washing out over the summer rather than just loading it in the dryer.
Does give you a good idea of where its being used, currently our direct debit is £70 a month, not bothered about it going down, just dont want it to go any higher.

Oh and every ****** leaves every light on, hoping the monitor will perhaps start to link switching stuff off with money, trying to get it across to the wife, she just finds it amusing but it isnt her who pays the direct debit, ditto her volunteering for driving everyone around.

the guy i work with bought one of these, he has heat wise tariff and had it set at 10 p per kw, He was at 3p with kids pc on and them with tv and a few lights on(3 p per hour average) and it went up to 60 p PH when his storage heater kicked in,
he got his from a DIY outlet for about 30 quid, its wireless,
he was impressed.

6p per hr at the moment, sat in dark with the laptop, so thats the laptop, fridges, missus watching a portable, stuff on standby and a couple of lights.
She leaves the porch light on all night cos its more "welcoming", f*ck that, theres a security lamp for that, leaves one on all night for the kids in case the need a pee.

just me & wife at home, electric oven (hardly used) & general stuff - lights, t.v. computer, washer - no immersion heater solid fuel fire with back boiler. n-power rip me off for £60 per month. i,ve phoned them on several occasions to try & get someone to look at the meter but they are not interested. one of the operators even told me i had used less electrcity than the previous billing period but they still put up my dd.
time to change suppliers i think!
