Selling a Car (Ebay?)
Hello
Believe it or not, I've never really had the pleasure of selling a car but it is time for my Supra to go (as long as I get a reasonable amount for it).
So is eBay the way to go? From various messages on here it seems to be a painful experience. If not there, where else?
Thanks.
Steve

Use Ebay classified not the auction. I sold my wifes Vectra through Ebay - got a lot more interest than I did through Auto Trader and it's cheaper
Shop eBay for Volkswagen Passat TDI, Rover Turbo, BMW 2002, AUDI Turbo, Rover 2000, Reg, Hatchback

I've bought and sold more cars on e-bay than I care to recall - I've had a Mazda RX7, two Supras, and 2 Scoobs among them. Infact, I've mainly swapped as opposed to sold and bought LOL.
There are of course, time wasters - and you do have to pay for an insertion fee - and no-one in their right mind completes the transaction via paypal - its always cash on collection - not like your gonna post a car is it!!!
What Supra do you have - LOL, always on the look out

Thanks for your replies -- I will try ebay and pistonheads.
Ms Gooner: I have a Japanese imported 1999 black Supra MKIV TT (which I've had for the last 9 years) -- it has done 118,000 motorway miles.

In the last 12 months I sold a WR1, a c70 volvo and triumph tr6 all via ebay. You get the best exposure by far (better than pistonheads or autotrader IMHO) but you do get you fair share of timewasters as well. Its also about timing as well, I put my tr6 on there three times in a 6 month period, I wanted close to 6.5km first two times even with 100+ watchers it didnt reach much past 4k but the third time it went for 6200 so I was well happy.

ebay car sales
in my view pistonheads and ebay classifieds. the higher the volume of potential buyers viewing your car the more likely it is to sell.
make sure you upload good photographs, make sure the car is clean, just state the facts, don't be negative about the car.
i sold a car in a week advertised on both sites, then the second car i sold took about four weeks. there was similar models for sale at the same time too.
your advert needs to sell the car in conjunction with photographs, description and price. good luck, all the best.
