cheap laminate in kitchens always ends in tears! rip it up and get some tiles down. (and when you do....hold your nose!)

If you soaked it up quick enough and its a wood floor without waterproof membrane underneath it "may" be ok.

I only say this as our bathroom has cheapy laminate (did it from left-overs) and gets sodden on a regular basis, yet its still perfect.

On the contrary, my mate has a PVC/lino floor, his washing machine has been leaking from the hose joint (just a drip a minute) presumably since the day it was installed (as well as the new floor). Fast forward one year and a strange bulbble appears in the middle of the kitchen that makes a squelching noise when trodden on. Oh dear: Cue 3 larger fueled "mates" aiding to get his floor up at 1:00am, plus ripping two layers of completely sodden ply lining staped down by a Parkinson's sufferer with an air-stapler. Christ did it stink, had me gagging for air and almost throwing up (not helped by the excess beer).

unfortunatly if you have a concrete floor underneath you have no chance of it drying out because the water has nowhere to run to

you need to take off all your kitchen plinths till you have either ripped it up or it has dried out as you will have to replace those too and if you dont do that you will have moisture build up behind your kitchen units and it will ruin your kitchen

Ahh, then any water that has gotten underneath may have nowhere to go. It'll probably start lifting.

rip it up, i had exactly the same thing happen in my kitchen this year. the previous owner had left the old lino down and put the laminate down on top so all the water got stuck between the two. It was cheap stuff but it soaked the water up between the joints and swelled up. Had to rip the whole kitchen floor up!

All sorted now - its worth paying the extra to get a laminate thats designed for kitchens/bathrooms - it doesn't soak the water up or go soft and mashed when wet.

Agree with others that it's screwed, check your excess and depending on the result, phone your insurers.

I'm thankful that I haven't got a floor fetish.. those close-up pictures were too much!!

Beer DIY! I remember that! The total lack of fear of fscking it up that can only come with 5+pints of beer...

...Though I do know a story about trying to "fit" a carpet when getting back drunk. Poor bloke did a perfect marking up job upside down... Only to find he'd cut a mirror image of his girlfriend's lounge. Apparently there was loud shouting usually reserved for those that throw up in bed.
