Default National insurance up £500 next year for £40K+

Just seen this on Sky News.

Anyone earning over £40k next year will have their national insurance increased by £500 per year.

Is this something new or something that was buried in an earlier budget?

Cant remember this one.

Cheers

B*stards, so that means that the first 1k of any pay rise is effectively swallowed up. Thanks Brown....

Im sure its a very short line in the budget. In very small print.
So the truth starts to develop.

Election anyone ?

Annouced last year.

No doubt an attempt to try and bring down the absolutely massive public spending debt. More cash to pay for workshy loafers to sit around watching SKY all day and drink the remainder down the local rough pub.

Extra £500 national insurance, road tax gone up to £400, £100 a week fuel @ £1 a litre, 40% tax, 17.5% VAT, council tax gone up and no kids so no rebates.

Cheers

Logical conclusion to all this must be that those of us who are unhappy with getting hammered on our hard earned every month/year (work full time, well paid job, house owner, savers etc etc) will eventually **** off to another country whilst all those that are happy (workshy fops) will stay. At that point the UK will collapse & there will be anarchy ...

Sit on your **** and do nowt, get provided for, work hard and accept all the aggro, learning and responsibility that comes with bigger salaries you get dicked, Brown can F*ck right off squeezing the middle class as a soft touch, get the lazy, feckless and false disabled out to work, tax the mega rich so they pay some AND STOP PROVIDING FOR THE WHOLE OF EUROPES MIGRANT COMMUNITY !!!!

And I suppose this is on top of the 40% income tax, so that five grand becomes 3 grand minus another 500 quid its 2500, minus the normal percentage, what is the point ?

I get sick of working hard for such a small return, socialism ?, more like communism for the middle/working classes who are daft enough to work to support the pointless.

Why not just take the f*cking lot and save pretending that we should have anything, how is anyone meant to buy a house, we are lucky, ours is paid for but how do people manage to buy anywhere decent when we get treated like this, I say we are lucky but Brown will probably insist we had ours over to some Somalian refugees !

RANT over, for now.

It doesnt matter though, the government can put up the NI and road tax, petrol prices can go up, but its fine because everyone can borrow against the 'equity' in their overpriced homes to pay for everything and worry about it later

As someone who is self employed and has to pay class 2 and 4 NI this is pretty annoying news.

In relation to NI contributions, for 2008/09, the upper earnings limit for Class 1 NI contributions will be aligned with the new point at which higher rate income tax will become payable after personal allowances have been taken into account. Alignment of the income tax and NI rates will be achieved for subsequent years through a proposed NICs Programme Bill, with an April 2009 start date.

Thanks all those people who voted these jokers in twice!

I read the other day, that we pay the most tax (Combined income/stealth etc), than any other country in Europe. This 'includes Germany', which was always quoted as being outrageously high 10 years ago.
