Default Sky TV and broadband - what to do?

Currently paying £25pm for Virgin broadband by cable (no phone, no TV)

The tenants now want satellite sports coverage (almost certainly Sky)

Have an old BT socket (last used 3 yrs ago) in the property but not connected.

To keep the Virgin broadband and add in Sky TV, BT want £124.99 to re-activate the line and then you'd have to pay monthly to then not use it

So what's the cost effective solution to getting broadband (wireless throughout the house, up to 6 laptops) and sports satellite TV?

Does Sky work through Virgin phone - all the blurb I've seen says you need a BT line?

Why not get Sky sports thru Virgin media? if you have XL package you get Setanta for free

I think you may also get a further reduction on your broadband if you have more services from them

I binned virgin, got rid of everything.

Yep I had to stump up £120 for BT to sort the line and pay them £11 a month for it but Sky broadband is only £10 a month for upto 16mb and unlimited downloads or £5 a month for 8mb and 40gig downloads.
£5 for Sky talk that gives free unlimited national and local landlines 24/7.
Choose what TV package you want, Sky+ is worth it's weight in gold and the HD content is far better than virgins.

Cheers

Not broadband, you need a BT line and your local exchange to be SKY LLU enabled.

all good and well going back to bt, but their customer services is absolutley shocking. terrible, dire, disgusting.

i moved from bt to virgin media, because i had a problem for months with a 2mb connection costing me £30 yes £30! a month running at 56k dial up speed. nearly had to get solicitors involved after the indian guy off fonejacker tried telling me it was my fault the connection was fubared, even though 96 different houses in the surrounding streets to mine had the same problem.

the only sole reason i keep my bt landline for £11 a month, is for my sky connection, but if you can use a virgin media phone line, i may tell them to get fcuked with that too

If your exchange is Sky LLU enabled you can go onto Sky's pricing and use Sky's equipment rather than use BT's ADSL equipment. My Neighbour is on a BT package and has loads of problems with Speed and connection. I use Sky and it's the fastest connection I've had. I used to pay £25 a month for NTL/Virgin, Sky's £10 a month broadband is faster and more stable.

Check with Sky to see if your exchange is Sky enabled.

Cheers

Yep, I got that.

What I was saying is you would save yourself a fair bit by going onto Sky broadband if your exchange is Sky LLU enabled.

If your exchange is LLU enabled you do not use BT's ADSL hardware so shouldn't have the same problems as you had before when you were on BT Broadband.

Cheers
