Qe2
never relised this was due to hit the river tyne, until i tried to get out of the apartment parking earlier on to get to work to pick up the weekends takings!
QE2 is sailing into the Tyne - Today's Chronicle - News - ChronicleLive
complete mayhem with the parking, cars all over the place, went to work (10 min journey took me about 40 mins)
came back to even worse, had to que to get into the residents parking
fecken boatwatchers out in force, wind and rain and they are all outside crowding around waiting for this ship to arrive.
ohh how much fun it was, sitting indoors, in just my shorts in the warmth watching them
anyway, we see crowds of people running past the window,
"its coming" etc etc
fair enough, hung out the living room window and took 2 snaps
1 normal
1 zoomed in
its pretty big when you see it next to a normal sized boat

lol, I love it. Probably one of the biggest things to happen to Newcastle this year, and you cannot even be bothered to casually walk to the end of the block to take a proper photo
Not having a go at you or anything, its just funny how laid back you are about it passing your window. All those boat watchers must have thought you had a screw loose when you just stuck your head out for a second or so and went back in

well lord of the rings was on at the same time, and it was to windy and cold for wearing shorts
the dfds ferry to amsterdam goes past every day i think so to me its just a bigger version of that, never realised so many boat buffs thought it was such a big thing, cray people next door had a "boat party" and started setting off fireworks later on

We sold it when my gran died in the mid 90s, now have no relatives up there at all.
Is the pub still at the end of the road? from what I remember there was a pub called the Corvette or summat at one end and as you pass the lighthouse and other houses there was another pub on the bend over looking the river no idea what that is called though.
We also used to walk down to the quay and along the road to a chip shop then on to Collie monument.
