"Tough on crime, tough on the causes of crime"
Scum caught 6x over the d/d limit fell asleep at the wheel of his car - whilst driving, got £120.00 fine and banned for a year. what a joke
DD should carry and prison sentence.

Are you sure it was that much, I thought the one 6 times over the limit got a much lower fine, something like £60. It was the one who gave the specimen of breath that got the higher fine...
What a good system we have though. Steps to reduce punishment as follows:-
1) If you have been drinking blow into the machine at the road side in the hope you can get off...
2) If you are arrested, blow into the machine at the police station to see how bad it is. If you are well over the limit, simply refuse to blow into it again and they can only do you for not providing a breath sample. If you are only slightly over, just come up with a good excuse and pray.
I also love the idea that lowering the drink limit will actually do something. You have people breaking the law, already over the limit, clearly not caring. The answer, well clearly lower the limit more as this will obviously make a difference to them

Oh and that copper going after the "red light jumper". That was such a minor transgression. 80% of the car must have gone through on amber. Mind you, the driver was a numptie.

Trouble is, with our jails at (what seems to be) maximum capacity, that's why it's so easy to get away with things these days.

Same argument applies to speed limits. People greatly exceeding speed limits crash and kill themselves therefore we'll install cameras and catch the majority exceed the limit marginally without crashing. Oh and before installing the camera we'll reduce the speed limit too. Nothing to do with money generation.
