Off to see Lord of the Rings saturday - starts at 7:30, so really need to find good, reasonable priced food (not garfunkles, etc) at around 5!!!
Any ideas, recommendations!!!
Cheers,

Incognico, Christophers and Axis are all nice. Try searching on London Eating - London Restaurants Guide

If you really want to push the boat out go to Rules, the oldest restaurant in London. Its not cheap though - have a look at their menus on the web beforehand - great restaurant for a special occasion

Sadly the best eatery in that area has now reduced itself to a mere coffee shop - but it still sells the best coffee in London! If you're in Covent Garden walk down hill to The Strand (but don't cross The Strand, stay on the Covent Garden side). Then turn right and walk towads Trafalgar Square.
After you've gone past a couple of theatres, an odd place that sells collectibles (??) and some nasty national 'coffee' shop chains you'll find a fabulous little Italian coffee shop. If you get to Rymans you've gone too far. Can't remember it's name, but it's on The Strand itself and right next door to a big coffee chain. The coffee and cakes in there are the very best you'll find in the whole of London town!
It used to be much bigger and did fantastic food too - but maybe stop by for a coffee and ask where they'd suggest? The people in there are absolutely lovely!

A month or so back when we went for pre-Theatre food it was to Strada(Panton Street, just out the SW corner of Leicester Square). Italian food, 2*main course, 1*desert, one good bottle of wine came to under £50, and it was good food. Take the wine out, it's ~£15/head, both agreed we'd be happy to go there again.
