Where do you think the money goes ? How on earth do you calculate that this costs you money ? Your license fee will not suddenly go up.

Its 'their' not 'there' I am sure there is an example of why state schools are a waste of my money in that post somewhere.

I'm siding with Luan on this one... £50,000 is a drop in the ocean for the pot from license fees. The BBC is a multi billion pound corporation and this fine wont even make the financial great lake ripple, even slightly...
Personally I object with having to listen to John McEnroe et al when I watch Wimbldeon and I bet the commentary team there costs the BBC more than £50,000 a year

I think the BBC probably earned more than 50k from the phone in charges...

They should have thought about it a bit more before saying the fine will come from the license fee. I mean, the BBC makes profit on all sorts of programming. They could have said it will come out of the profits for "Extras" or something.

(Although this would undoubtably leave some people saying "What, the BBC actually makes a profit? Where's my dividend?" )

The money goes down the pan

so your quite happy to pay the fine for something you had no involvement in?

you pay for a licence fee, for the bbc to provide you with a service, taking more money for a rigged - prize or service is / was i believe deception

re your there ? their comment , have you not seen my previous threads?

does it matter it its theres or thiers it belonged to THEM!!!!!

Perhaps if some of the money supposed to be spent on education was spent on ridding the English language of it's stupid nuances, and grammatical nonentity's then things would be a lot clearer

If i recall the Germans dropped a lot of there grammatical twists to make the language easier, isn't it time we did the same!!

As far as I know there are still 6 different words for the word "the" when used to denote the definite article in its singular form, depending upon the case -

nominative DER DIE DAS
accusitive DEN DIE DAS
genitive DES DER DES
dative DEM DER DEM

German made easier

I haven't studied German for around 14 years , so apologies if I'm a bit rusty.

Errrr - let me think about that for two or three seconds. No!!

The English language is a treasure as rich as the nation's heritage and should be expanded and grown not simplified.

For simplification reference TXT SPK.

Agreed. (for the first time ever, I believe)

English language isn't the number one language without reason. It grew and expanded by absorbing influences from all other language forms throughout it's history and earned it's place as the universal language of the world.

The downside of this legacy is that it has to incorporate and include 'text speak' and, even worse 'grasp the low hanging fruit' of middle management terminology...

If by "earned" you mean it grew because of the formation of the Empire through war, slavery, invasion, colonisation etc, and after that, the increased influence of the US after WW2. Then, yes

I too agree strongly with that statement. We should maintain our language and resist all these attempts to change it to a shadow of what it is. I also get fed up of these new uses for words by smartarses when there is a perfectly good way to say it in normal English.
