One for the Telly technofiles

We already have a chipped playstation 1 and the import (US) discs work fine using the Scart cable between the playstation and the TV - games play in colour. A friend also has a chipped playstation but no Scart socket on his TV so he only gets the games in black and white via the TV's ariel socket. He does have a Scart on his video recorder though - so would the Scart cable to the video then the 'normal' UHF patch lead to the ariel socket on the telly give him colour ? We'd obviously need to tune the telly and video to the correct channels - but would this work ?.

Scart cable doesn't make a difference the reason his is in black and white and yours is in colour is because your tv accepts an ntsc signal, where as your freinds telly only accepts a pal one.

try plugging scart lead into vcr.select "input or AV"on the video.
goto vcr channel on tv set and see if it works.(make sure vcr is on!)
I have psx plugged into vcr using scart lead
and i have ps2 plugged into tv using scart lead.
all imports work fine(but i know the tv can play ntsc games!)
give it a go.

Don't think that will work. You might as well try
I use to have that problem with my super famicon (aka Japanese SNES).
If there is only a aerial socket available then you would need to get a converter. I have a home made one somewhere which I have tried on a psx before taking the RGB signals from the av out and converting it to a 50Hz/60Hz (switchable) PAL signal. You should be able to pick these up from shops that sell import consoles. Remember seeing these advertised for about £30.
Hope this helps
