Question

Afternoon all!

I'm looking for some recommendations on what to get for my PC, as I've just got the b&gger up and running again after issues getting the right s/w patches installed for the hardware (its a gateway!).

I'm looking at buy the following:

Paint package (PaintShop Pro v7?)

CD Authoring (Easy CD Creator + Direct CD v5?)

And can anyone recommend any must have games? I've got CS & Black & White, was going to get U/T.. any others? Haven't been following the PC games market for sometime, due to PS2 ownership...

Oh yeah, the system is a 1.3GHz P4 with 128MB, and an ATI Radeon card, DVD & CD R/RW drives + USB (of course).

I've got Works 2001, DreamWeaver 4, Fireworks 4 and Flash 5 already, plus some image tools supplied with a digital camera.. any other recommendations?

Cheers, Alex

I've not really given CS much of a chance... but may have more of a go now I've got this PC up n running again (my other PC doesn't cut the mustard games wise).

Thanks for the info so far,

Return to Castle Wolfenstein (RTCW) is a great single player game but there are better online games. Try these....not in any order....

RTCW (as above)
Max Payne (Single player appeal)
Deus EX (Same as above)
Counter Strike (CS) (tatical game)
Quake III (best online shoot them up)

Looks like I will be popping down to my local PC s/w vendor a little later...

Looks like I'll be getting Nero 5.5 instead of EasyCD.

Cheers, Alex

PS. Any more suggestions?

Just removed EasyCD and replaced it with Nero 5.5. Also have Clone CD installed for those extra special backup copies.

I've got RTCW (running on an AThlon 1.4GHz/256Meg RAM & GeForce GTS2 64Meg card).

I can't put it down. Had Maz Payne (bit easy though)

Others to get are (IMHO of course)

Alien Vs Predator 2 (Brill)
Colin McRae2 (OBVIOUSLY!!!)
Oni
Red Faction was Okay....
Operation Flashpoint

I've just bought Rally Championship Xtreme (with my Saitek ForceFeedback whee that I had off Wifey for Xmas)

WOW!!!!!

Just my 2p.....

Steve,

Yup, just put in another 6 hours on Battle grounds. The Trade Federation are wishing they never met me.

Also played the Empire Missions first. Got to go for the Dark Side every time. Now playing as the Gungans, who have some kick *** weaponry (sp).

Dark troopers with some support can single handedly wipe out a base. I loved playing as the Empire.
I won't carry on as I may spoil it. But there are some great combinations of troops to be used. On some levels at the beginning I'm sure the kitchen sink came at me.

In short, buy it. Playing it with the SW's music in the background made me dig out the Ep 1 DVD and watch it again.

There are some silly lapses though. Tie Fighters that slow when the come to a hill in the Terrain!!! Sure to be a patch for that though. AT least mounted troops out run foot soldiers unlike Age of Emires.

Sith - sounds excellent... I'll have to try and get it...

Re. Nero - tried to find it last night, but failed, I'll probably mail order it now from Amazon. (no nero, but about 20 copies of Easy Coaster on the shelf - tells you something really!).
