Default Buying car tax on-line?

Just been sent my ' renew your car tax ' letter and it says I can do it online, without any documents, and they put a tax disc in the post. Anybody actually done it like this ? success/ problems?

Done it for the last coupe of years. No problems at all!

Pay with a debit card if possible as there is an additional charge for using a credit card.

Dead easy, normally turns up within 3 days. Better than standing in a queue for 30 mins for the Gestapo ladies to tell you you used the wrong colour ink on the form!!

As much as one hates to be parted of money for Tax of any sort, this is a very easy and quick means of paying, and helps to prove the system is getting there with isolating unsured drivers.

Shame you can't do it if your insurance expires at the same time. Thats anyone who bought a car with 12 months tax buggered!

Not going to the post office because of this sort of thing is why post offices are now being closed.

I still got mine online last year - 6 months was over £100 once the CC charge was put on...

Easy isn't it, you'll be surprised at the cheap brown envelope they use to post it to you

Its great if the insurance paperwork hasnt arrived, you only need the log book details. Unlike the post office where you have to show everything

I used it a couple a years ago and thought it was great. Then someone on here highlighted the government normally have to pay the post office for this service, so by doing it on line the government get more of your money and the post offices end up closing.

Back to the post office queue for me thanks !
