Radar, some automatic shop door sensors can set this off, as well as speed indicators on roads etc..

1 NATO K band
2 IEEE K band
2.1 Subdivisions
3 Infrared astronomy K band

] NATO K band
The NATO K band is defined as a frequency band between 20 and 40 GHz (7.5–15 mm).

IEEE K band
The IEEE K band is a portion of the electromagnetic spectrum in the microwave range of frequencies ranging between 18 and 27 GHz. K band between 18 and 26.5 GHz is absorbed easily by water vapor (H2O resonance peak at 22.24 GHz, 1.35 cm).

Subdivisions
The IEEE K band is conventionally divided into two sub-bands:

Ka band: K-above band, 27–40 GHz, mainly used for radar and general communications.
Ku band: K-under band, 12–18 GHz, mainly used for satellite communications.

Infrared astronomy K band
Infrared astronomers refer to the infrared region around 2.2 micrometres wavelength (136 THz) as K-band.

[hide]v • d • eThe Electromagnetic Spectrum
(Sorted by wavelength, short to long)
Gamma ray • X-ray • Ultraviolet • Visible spectrum • Infrared • Terahertz radiation • Microwave • Radio waves
Visible (optical) spectrum Violet • Blue • Green • Yellow • Orange • Red
Microwave spectrum W band • V band • K band: Ka band, Ku band • X band • C band • S band • L band
Radio spectrum EHF • SHF • UHF • VHF • HF • MF • LF • VLF • ULF • SLF • ELF
Wavelength designations Microwave • Shortwave • Mediumwave • Longwave

i hope this answers you question
k band is only used in the US police radar guns
alll radar give out this ie traffic light automatic doors so on

[QUOTE=Chip Sengravy;6992232]So why would snooper manufacture and sell a device that picks up radar from automatic doors ?

these are the older version of door sensor the new sensors use doppler radar
this makes them less sensitive to movement and can work directionly
some old radars on the doors used to set of by taxi radio

this link will help

Have they changed the radar in Gatsos recently, I have not seen one indicate a radar present on my Snooper for as long as I can remember now.
