Question Just another watch thread ..

Looking for a cheap watch which would be ok for swimming and surfing - and I mean cheap enough that to lose it wouldn't matter that much.

Pete I'd sggest a Tag, don't go over £1000, plenty of choice in that range and if you lost it wouldn't matter.

Thinking of this:-

Buy Timex 1440 LCD Fashion Sports Gents Watch. at Argos.co.uk - Your Online Shop for Men.

When it says water Resistant to 50 Metres .. does it mean that it is WaterProof or just SplashProof?

I need it to work if immersed in salt water or fresh water for hours at a time.

You have just ripped your builders off to the tune of £16000+ so you would take that attitude

PS - DON'T get that watch - 50m will last about five seconds in surf.
You need at least 100m.

I've got two G Shocks that simply refuse to break in any conditions - 200m waterproof. I surf most days often in quite heavy conditions and the G Shocks just keep going.
Timex do more hardcore Ironmans so maybe look at those.

Fleabay is very good for super cheap G Shocks - I've seen my digi one (200m waterproof, cost me £120 7 years ago) for £20 new!

Don't be so agist ..... there was a programme on last week about the Baby-Boomers.

A 72 year old was kite surfing - I couldn't do that now .... but surfing is like riding a bike. I take it you do not surf then?

I don't know why some lazy couch fat ***** cannot believe that oldies can (and do) participate widely in sports and pastimes - not just stamp collecting!

I've never heard a bad thing about G-shock reliability. Good choice I reckon.

I'd imagine that a 78 year old waterskiing would have little choice but to do a good bit of "bodysurfing" LOL
