I think this is a bit p*** poor to be honest, the guy is trying to organize a charity event and raise some money and he gets banned, whoever did this ought to be ashamed of themselves.

Wouldn't the best approach have been to contact the webmaster and ask them to create a "sticky" thread in NSR advertising the event?

With all the good intention it smacked of a McDonalds litter picker employee asking for a car meet. He might be a nice guy but I got annoyed just reading the post, my hounds could have done a better job.
Yes, then there was the 'foriegn' element to it, that was game over for me.
Banning was harsh though even if he did come across as hurt and annoyed that hardly anybody had responded. That's the way it goes sometimes.
A quick pm from one of the mods should have sufficed but it was left to the spineless infraction bods that can hide behide a keystroke.

If I were him, I would ask for the infraction to be reviewed/revoked purely on principal. And its obvious that these idiots cannot interpret what is spam or not and should be reprimanded for it

Spam is NOT a honest person who is making a request on behalf of a bonafide charity. So long as that charity exists and is genuine, which as far as I'm aware it is, it is therfore not spam. It maybe unauthorised advertsing, but that issue is only to handled by the Webmaster.
If the Infractors responsible had the blindest bit of common sense, they would have RTM'd the post to the mods who would in turn refer it to the webmaster to assertain if the chaity's advertising affects the commercial aspect of this site. Ironic that the charity helps education of children, yet it seems that the people who dished out those infractions seem to lack just that, otherwise they could have engaged their brain.
