Default Nuisance Calls..

Had the same mobile number for years, (that I don't want to swap as it was a silver number when I got it) but have recently started getting calls and texts from what I think is a Nigerian number +2348050385504..

Dont want to answer it, as I will no doubt get billed for receiving the call..

Spoke to O2 who apparently do not have the facility to block any numbers, which I was unaware of..

Any ideas how to stop the calls without having to swap numbers ??

(also, can't think where they have got my number from, unless it was from a recent car insurance quote ?)

well +234 is definately Nigeria. Cant think what you can do about it though if O2 wont block the number.

How can you be charged for simply answering a call?

Surely you need to verbally agree to a reverse charge call.

depends where the call is coming from, much the same as answering your phone whilst abroad and roaming on another network.. you pay to receive the call..

but in that case you are told. each time you enter a country you get a text telling you the charges because using the phone abroad is a service you are benefitting from. Plus it means that whoever calls you doesn't get stung with a huge bill if they didn't know you were away.

in the UK you shouldn't be paying to recieve the call.

5t.

Tosh, you pay to receive the call because you are paying for the international leg of the call - the person in the UK can only be charged the std rate for phoning a UK network.

If on your home network you are not charged for receiveing std international calls.
