Default Possible ebay scam!!

I have been looking for a new car for my wife and as usual I trawl through ebay and am constantly seeing very cheap (expensive) cars as below.

eBay.co.uk: 2004 BMW Z4 SE 2.5 (item 200097322072 end time 04-May-07 10:00:20 BST)

I have seen 04 Boxsters for 10k, E46 M3s for 10k etc etc and the seller has always just registered that day or a day earlier.

If it is a scam I dont understand how because if you were spending that sort of money full stop you would go and see the car and do the relevant checks to make sure it was as said!!

Anyone else seen these?

Sorry if this has been raised before!

There was a thread on this a while back ... think that it's just to get you to call them, something to do with finance. There is no intention of selling the car & with zero feedback they can do what they like

These people prey on those who think that a bargain is to be had - and, to be honest, anyone caught deserves to be!

I remember an elderly Major Chappie who was taken for £20,000 about 15 years ago .... a conman told him he could double his money within 8 weeks

Why, oh Why, don't people think about whats on offer?? If the conman could double money in 8 weeks he would borrow it at 5%, double it, and be quids in! THINK!!

If someone is deperate to sell a car they are still going to obtain the best price for it - if it's too cheap ask yourself why! THINK!!

If someone offers you something for nothing, and they don't know you, ask yourself why would they want to do that?? THINK!!

If it looks too good, sounds too good, seems too good ... then, 99% of the time it IS too good and you will get hurt! THINK!!

Doesn't matter how big your mates are as they'll more than likely hold you at gunpoint.

If it does appear to be the bargain of the century and you do go through the sale be very very careful its not a cloned car. Check the engine chassis number, windscreen chassis number and logbook all match up. Make sure engine plate hasn't been tampered with aswell.

There was a programme mid week about this exact same thing, and how many cars are being cloned, as obviously stolen.

Be careful, when something is too good to be true it generally is. There are tonnes of cars on ebay being advertised at 1/3-1/2 their value.

Had the rozzers 'round recently [thought it was cos I shook that 2.3 Cortina off a few years ago - but , phew, it wasnt]. Someone on e-bay had taken a mug for £8k selling them my old RS4. They lifted my pics and passed it off as theirs. This guy thought he had got such a bargain he payed up not having seen the car or met them
