Pupil excluded from Prom...

Absolutely disgraceful decision by the school. Reward your high performing pupils by excluding them from activities.
IMO she should find a way of taking her exams elsewhere and exclude the school from any positive marks from her own achievements.

Cheeky gits, if the school ever pulled something dodgy like that when I was younger my old man would have been straight down there kicking off about it, they'd soon change their mind

I smell a rat on this one. The BBC try to report that she is some amazing student, she is only online for 2 A grades at GCSE. It also fails to say which subject the extra revision lessons were for, and what grades are expected in those subjects.
Sounds like she needs the extra lessons, and the school are doing their best for her. The fact that the school is offering these extra lessons should be commended.

I thought this was some parochial localised story when I saw it this afternoon, since then I've heard a ten minute debate about it on Radio 5, and it's been on the national telly news. This country is on its **** if this story is considered even vaguely important.

She has 2 A GCSE's so far, she may well be on course for a fair few more, why burden her with extra lessons when she appears to be doing quite well on her own.
Punishing her stinks and I'd not be happy if it were my daughter either.
The only thing they can do is burn the school down, *** 'em all
