Run 'along' a path NO.. health and safety issue/ trip hazard.. but you CAN bury then in conduit (even plastic wastepiping from B&Q etc)

not really .. Ideally .. dig a bit of a trench... get some plastic conduit .. or ... run the risk they'll 'cry foul' at H&S etc and scarper quick....

I found the bloke who did ours (admittedly not underground) was only too happy to let me do some of the work. In my case this involved running the cable through the loft etc.

They aren't allowed to go in lofts, so I got him to drill through the gable end and feed loads of cable through while I was in the loft pulling it.

He gave me some connectors, and was happy to leave!

Sky's own installers won't go in a loft - an independent company will and sub-contractors to sky may, but shouldn't....

I know a few people who did the same as ru' and ran that bit themselves - they'll drillthe holes & supply the cable, but they're not insured to go in lofts as too many of the clumsy gits fell through.

You can always buy some cable of your own and run it wherever you like - it's not hard - good quality co-ax and f connectors. Somewhere like Satcure will have everything you need.

if you do it yourself use the foam filled cable, its much more robust for outdoors, and it does make for a better picture

pretty much 'next day' is a long way from 1/2 hour down B&Q . or 'stop me and buy one ' from a Sat installer

It shortens the cable life if you bury it directly in the ground, but fine in plastic conduit as long as you keep the water out. That's bad for it too if it is lying in water permanently.
