I have a Tom Tom Go, what is the easiest way to update it ?

If possible, I'm after updated maps and full postcode search. Is there anyway of getting this free ?

Any advice appreciated, I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to things like this

You can get it free, but that is just plain theft. If you log onto tomtom website you can pay and download latest UK and Ireland maps with full postcode search for about 40 quid.

Easy - install Tomtom Home (their free software) and it will check what you have and what you need, plus it allows you to check if there are updated maps and the like, which I am sure there will be. Then it does all the work for you.

Are you asking me to encourage you to steal?

You can get it at........ hang on - If I post that I might get one of those infarctions or infractions or whatever they are called

I just bought Full USA and Europe (West and east) .Supplied my own 2 gb card and the guy charged me £30.00. Computer fair in London.

Post code search for UK is free in many places. No point having a GPS and not been able to work from a Postcode.

Tried a "ONE" for a few days. sound is no way as good as the "Go" or 500/700 units.

yes ! The guy has "A very big following" and gets things right. Will be using the card next week for 4 days in the "Blue Ridge".

he warns that any one selling on ebay tends to be no good. Also cards dont work if you swap them over to other units. he tells you this. sellers on ebay dont. Its worth getting the Full Monty on a 2 gig card .

LOL - You'll be wanting the full text-to-speech system that the 910 has next...

..."Take the 3rd exit, M4 South Wales"... "Your new arrival time is 9:21" etc.

I think it is a bit of a scam. Our TomTom Go has several areas that are plain wrong, it couldn't send me to my old work for example as it wanted me to go the wrong way up a one way street.

For that reason i'd like to update it for free. i Don't see why i need to pay TomTom 40 notes to update their own wrong maps when the AtoZ is completey correct and cost a fiver.

5t.

dont expect the maps to be 100% . I still find many roads etc incorrect. But Tom tom have become the number one guys and sell millions of machines each year. Do a search and you can find some very very interesting "free" stuff. I am trading my old "Go" infor a 710 as I want the Blue tooth function.

also remember they have no plan to update the new London Congestion charge zone.

I'm on the point of buying TomTom Navigator 6 for a PDA. If anyone has any tips for updating this with useful stuff it's much appreciated. I'm pretty new to SatNav.
