there was one that i used a couple of years ago, but I just cannot remember its name

All the prices they give you are based on information that is taken from the Land Registry. So, you will have to wait a while for all of that to be updated, a few years ago you had to wait up to 6 months iirc.

I use that one too

Also you can use Find properties to buy, homes to rent, overseas houses and new homes on rightmove.co.uk they have a section too, however like most that are linked to the land registry you would have to wait for the information to be updated.

Maybe call the estate agents who sold the house and say you are thinking of selling & could they give you a steer

They can be informative but not always. You don't have to have your price on the websites. I've sold before and the sale doesn't show on any of them. And the place I'm buying the current owners bought in 2005 and it's not on any of them.

New builds aswell don't allow for the developers 'discount' as essentially you pay the full asking price and they pay the difference between your 'offer' and the asking price.

As a bit of info it's generally good info to have but I've known people not buy as they see what the previous owners have paid and likewise know of people who have had stupidly low offers as 2 years ago next door sold for xxx.

In the main good info, but bear in mind much of the general public are too thick to understand the information.
