Default Good job top gear ran the train crash the other week

Cos we'd probably have to wait another 6 months otherwise. Guess somebody wasn't watching.

1 less VauxPoo on the road. Can only be a good thing.

Natural selection again. If you're stupid enough to run a crossing, you get all you deserve.

Given that the train was empty, unless he was the driver then yes.

If your referring to the incident today; then actually there were 44 passengers on the Colchester to Norwich train, who completed their journey to Norwich by Coach.

Why is it there are so many stupid people on this board who post before knowing the full story

Sorry, I was wrong. The post referring to last weeks crash by sociophobe confused the issue.

Do you think that JC's advice to wear a high visiblity jacket might have prevented the accident though?

Let's face it 99 times out of 100 this sort of incident is the ***** in the car's fault

Based on that, I personally fully agree with stilovers comments

Do you think they'll install a speed camera on the line now? 100mph, clearly speed is the cause of death here?

The speed of the train is not the problem here. Sounds to me like the car driver thought he could make it across before the train arrived, a mistake that cost him his life. Automatic half barrier crossings are one of the most dangerous for the public if they do not respect them.

Some motorists get impatient waiting for the train to pass because the barrier lowers in plenty of time for their safety and the safety of the train, unfortunately as there is only one barrier per side there is too much temptation to run the barriers.

This driver took the gamble and lost. The stakes are too high to take the risk.

The problem isn't the barriers, it's the ****** who jump them
The solution is simple, cameras on the crossings, proper punishment for those who jump them
The attitude of the media doesn't help, they always ask what the railway companies are doing to stop this sort of thing, rather than what the police are doing
The UK is the only country in the world which puts the onus on the railways to protect idiots from themselves

I bet that full barriers would do a lot to prevent that sort of thing!
