Default "Bright" kids, C4 now.

Some parents should never be parents.

Missus wants to beat the language one, I'd like to take the rest of them out for a kick about, an ice cream and a disney movie.

Give them a decent education to help them fulfill their potential but give them a life too. 6 year old learning about Avogadro's constant? FRO

Cracked up at the mother of 4 "bright" kids who said one of her daughters "got almost the highest maximum score ever on 11 plus". Great example there mum. (And people might take you more seriously if you didn't apply your make up with a shotgun.)

And you were the other parents, they worryied about!!!!

Ok she didnt look the most attractive, but so what!.

Agreed some of them needed to get out more.......

but the college lecturer summed it all up really.... if you clever at school, you get bullied, how true he was!!!!

trouble was my parents told me never to fight back, prehaps i shopuld have decked a few, might have solved some of my early school problems!!

if i could do it the second time around, 4 kids would have had multiple fat lips!!

think those kids need some play dough and telly tubbies.

Talk about robbing them of their childhood. Encourage them by all means but I stuggle to believe they're not being pushed.

(Says someone who was responsible for his nephew, along with his father, being able to ID every make of car on the road by the time he was 3.. )

I was clever at school, not at genius level but did get moved ahead and finished school earlier than most. Was never bullied once, I'm presuming because I wasn't obnoxious with it. (Am now though )

Exactly! The little brat doing medieval cookery at 10 ffs?

thought the chess player was quite funny, especially when he was playing his dad blindfolded and still won.

I jumped a year at school and was a bit of a boff so went to decent private school.
Then moved to Cornwall and went to a Comp. Scored top in most things (annoying the previous "boff" a bit) but got major hassle - I literally had to "fight" my way to popularity (lots tried ot on expecting a posh boy to be a wimp) - Ended up being fine and embarrassed plenty of wannabee bullies (who ended up being the unpopular ones) but showed a stark contrast between a private school where achievement was applauded by friends to a comp where it was scorned.

It's easy enough to say, 'they should all get out and play more', but the fact is these are highly intelligent individuals with a genuine thirst to absorb as much information as they can.
One of the little oiks summed up this thread perfectly when talking about the difference in respect that kids have to show adults in comparison to respect the adults show kids.
Can't remember the exact quote but it was along the lines of
" adults say things like 'show some respect when talking to elders' and I reply 'why should I, you don't show any respect to me'"

Anyway the fact of the matter is that these kids all seem happy and keen to push themselves acadmically and art-illy (woo now there's a new word. I is a genius).

For those of you who still can't accept that these kids are doing what makes them happy, rest well in the knowledge that they will all turn out to be cross-gender weirdos, just like that wee she-male antiques boffin on Blue Peter a few years back
