... does BBC News insist on referring to dame judi dench as an an 'actor'.
she's an actress, actress, actress. if she was an actor she'd have played james bloody bond not bloody M.
i'm twitching like inspector bloody dreyfuss these days every time i turn the telly on ... and bloody huw edwards with his stupid bloody sneering upper lip. god he gets my goat. who does he think he is? billy bloody idol?

It's because of PC nobbery. The Yanks still have Oscars for Best Actress etc. But I suppose soon it will be, "best female actor!"

Actor is a gender-neutral term. Only the ancient greeks seperated the two using actor for the male and actrix for the female counterpart.
