Private Parking>>
I live in a flat with has 18 spaces, 9 flats, 2 blocks in Scotland. AS its next to an Airport what can be done to stop ***** parking in our spaces when they go off their holidays!
As its private property can the non resident cars be clamped or booked/parking ticket in some sort of way as its coming up to holiday season and we never have any spaces to park in.
Thanks for your help.
S!

Get friendly with the local *******, assure them there will be no witnesses provided they leave locals' cars alone, then give them the plates of the cars you want removing

If its illegal to clamp on private land, then obviously you cant do that. But you could still put up a sign saying wheel clamping is in operation, it may scare someone off enough to not park there. Or...
Private Parking for residents only - non residents vehicles will be vandalised

Could you not agree which spaces belong to who and those that wish to fit bollards do so.
We have bollards and clampers (Wales). Only downside is some bollards that you lay down take nice chunks out of sumps if the car is too low.
We've been here about 7 years and at least once a year someone uses one of our spaces with the bollards down and theres trails of oil and in some cases big chunks of sump around the bollard - that teaches them a lesson!

i doubt these people will be repeat offenders, so vandalising the cars will simply not work, unless they go on holiday every single year.
i put wheel clamp signs up at work and the number of knobbers leaving there cars at our site, and going into the car sales lot next door dropped by a huge amount.
what pissed me off, was the fact that i was losing commission, as the ********* were parking in designated vacuum bays, stopping people using the vacuum's, after asking a few people it turns out they were just going to the next site offering a vacuum bunker (local garages etc etc)
complaining to "drivers" was a waste of time, with the usual "i will only be a few mins mate" and nearly ended up with a "gang" of builders killing me
the car lot staff were blocking everything up, every morning as only one person had a key to open there place up, the whole situation was costing me money, and making me stressed.
it ended up with our new signs scaring the knobbers away, the car lot had to build a car park as they were losing business (it was at my expense so they were never arsed before), and all my customers were far happier as they could use the vacuum bunkers
i bought the 3 signs from ebay and had another one made up explaining that the site was for customers only and cctv was watching the spaces.
vacuum commissions are up by a large amount....
knobbers........
good quality wheel clamp signs will work wonders IMO
bollards would be best though

Clamping.
I s'pose if you don't ask for a fee, it's not extortion. The keys might be with someone who's mobile has gone dead, gone fishing, is dead though so it may take a while to find them

Rather than putting a gate across the entrance get a couple of posts to go either side, and a large chain and padlock. Put up a sign saying that dar parking is £50 a day or any part thereof and the car par can be locked at any time.
Then all you need to do is attach both ends of chain to the same post with a padlock, and drive in and out. Those who are parking will see the chain and assume it is locked on occasions and not park. If anyone does park you can lock the in and as for £50, £100 or whatever before they leave! If they do leave ask DVLA for their address and send a parking demand to them.

I live in flats that are patrolled daily by a private parking firm. We get issued 2 permits per flat. They do ticket cars £80 (or £40 if you pay within the first two weeks).
The only pain is, regardless or not if they recognise your car, they will issue a ticket if you're not displaying a permit. It's a nuisance trying to appeal a ticket, but they always write it off.
I think it's a nationwide company (based in Birmingham). If you want the details, PM me and I'll send you the phone nymber
