Default fuel tax

just booked to go to egypt for a week,
spoke to the salesperson she gave me the price for three hotels
seemd a ok deal,I sayed I would go to the sheraton,

bombshell
that will be 65 pounds per person fuel tax
on top of the holiday price that was advertised
WHAT
and if I go to another hotel that will be the same
I said to her why are you charging fuel tax when the price of fuel has dropped since the tax was introduced
she told me it was a charge that the airline charges them
they can **** off I thought

got a better deal with thompsons
same hotel cheaper holiday and no fuel tax

just another case of rip off travel agents

rant over

You'll just be asked for the additional tax when you check-in at the airport....

The orginal post is unclear, but Gordon Brown has increased APD
( Air Passenger Duty ) for flights outside of Europe by £20 for economy, and £40 for all other classes. This is a tax, not fuel surcharge by the airlines. Infact, with the falling price of crude over the last 3 months, some airlines have reduced their fuel surcharges.
Not our wonderful Govt though. They increase taxes to "save the planet" Yeah right, as if they have f@ck all idea what to do!!

It is indeed a tax and yet another brilliant ides from Flash so that they can maintain all those parliamentary expenses etc. It would be awful if they had to stop being able to claim up to £250 a day without having to show a receipt of any kind!
