Question DVD elecrical socket with continetal plug

i've just bought a cheap dvix dvd player off the internet, from an english company, now when i opened the box it has a continetal type 2 pin plug. now fortunatly i have a addapter plug so i've used that to see if it works, and it does. now what i was wondering is can i just cut that plug off and wire a uk 3 pin plug without the earth? on the back of the dvd player it says 110-240v 50Hz. will it work ok and will it be safe to use? i cannot be arsed sending it back, especially this time of year

cheers mike

Hello

Yes you can. Or the 2-pin will just fit in a socket if you push a pencil or similiar object in the earth socket to release the other two whilst you push the plug in*.

If it has this symbol on the back, then you can wire it as you suggest.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that does this MrsD goes mental at me when I do it

Most of my portable electrical stuff has continental plugs on, it makes life easier when you're travelling because you can persuade them into almost any 240V socket
