Default Where does "Xmas" derive from?

Was just wondering was is somebody who thought that writing "Christmas" was to much hassle so decided to shorten it but couldnt decide what to so just put "X" or do you think non Christians didnt want to call it "Christ"mas so refused to write it

Any suggestions????

Christ was hung up on that cross thing. He then escaped and all that was left was a cross, which had fallen over. So Christ was no where to be seen, only an X where he once was
