Hello,

A bit of a vauge hope. I currently have a Sony VTX-D800U Freeview Box hooked up to my Phillips CRT and in my opinion, the picture is superb (you non HD LCD owners will never know!! ).
I'm looking at buying a Sony HDD DVD recorder with built in Freeview, possibly the RDR-HXD560.
All I'm looking to know is whether anyone has any experience and if the freeview picture from the Freeview recorder is as good. I don't want to buy then wish I hadn't!
I question this because the VTX-D800U has always had excellent write ups and prices have remained high, even in the 2nd hand market.

Can't imagine you'd notice the difference. I 've played with several freeview boxes and they all give good pictures when they're working properly.

Don't know about the Sony, but I'm using the Humax 9200 and it's great. It has a large hard drive, twin tuners etc. Less than £200.
