Default band of brothers

i just watched the last one then, i know its been on a million times b4 but its the best thing ive seen in ages and could easily watch it again.

i do realise its all hollywoodised but god, any one who fought in ww2 is truly an amzing person and due lots of respect,

at the end of the programme the narrator is telling you what happened to them all and right at the end it shows you the actual men,

i have to confess i was felling up a bit .

im sure you all have a bit of camararderie at the office, i do i love it, couldnt work without it, but wow what they must have seen. the things the must have done the split second life or death decsisions.

it should be shown as part of the national curriculum.

One of the best "made for tv" mini-series ever made IMHO. Get it bought UB, it's worth every penny. It was going for 12.99 a few weeks back from CDWOW! but has gone up since for the Xmas cash-in. I have the R1 US version to benefit from the DTS surround track

I believe the same team are currently working on Pacific War

Band of Brothers is excellent stuff. Pity they portray the Brits as hapless and hopeless ! Great stuff nonetheless.

They do, especially in reference to opertaion Market Garden.... If the slack Americans had broken through and advanced as they were supposed to then British paratroopers wouldnt have been cut-off in Arnhem for a week!

I'm a massive fan of the series. I got the box-set some years ago and its just such an eye-opener. As said it should be part of the national curriculum (aside from the americanisation of everything).

I watched the last two episodes last night and the documentary, funnily enough. Absolutely brilliant TV.. Had me welling up a bit too. It's coming out on HD-DVD and Blu-ray in 2007 apparently. Already looks great upscaled on my XBox 360.

Lots of actors in there who've gone on to be more famous (anyone spot Simon Pegg in early episodes?). Think it's the best thing Damian Lewis has done though. Reminds me of Steve Mcqueen in the way he plays Dick Winters.

I watched the series for the first time last month and i've got to say, I was very impressed with it. One of the best things i've seen in ages, really gripping/moving stuff.

I bet the series would look fantastic on HD. When I finally get myself an HD DVD player that's the first thing i'd buy. Saying that though, i'm pretty sure i've come accross it on a torrent site in HD. Time to go hunting

Indeed, 'Why We Fight' have tears in my eyes everytime I watch it.

Got the set from HMV a few years ago, they were doing it on special offer.

Anyone notice how all the best actors were British?

David Schwimmer is pretty good in it. He's a very underrated actor, IMHO.

I just can't get the same enthusiam for the Pacific War. Although a terrific effort by the allies, and a real slog, it lacks the drama of the European war.

The Thin Red Line is a good example of why they shouldn't do it.

Discovery Civilisation are showing a very good series at the moment, "World War II, a complete history".

It's very detailed indeed (more so than WAW) and has the benefit of access to info that still had not been released when they made WAW. Has some interesting insights which I did not know before.

Geezer
