Angry My Son was in an RTA yesterday!!!!!!!!

A 60 year old driver pulled out in front of him, writing off his 106GTI the guy had been driving on a provisional license for 20 years, So it just goes to show youngters are not the main cause of accidents.
Cheers
Colin

Cheers Turbohot, he is fine considering the state of the car, just a bit sore from the seatbelt.

Very good news it could have been far worse
Older drivers are far worse sometimes! They drive in an oblivious state and blame young drivers. I bet he is muttering to his wife right now, that your son was driving too fast or something.<shakeshead>

Hope the lads ok Colin, I can testify to how bad old drivers are, rear ended one last year in my old scooby after he pulled out on me in a 30 and stopped dead in the road! Mistook his new automatic car for his old manual car, and hit the brake thinking it was the clutch! Muppet

Glad to hear your son is ok though

I dont think age was a factor really, 60 really isnt that old, I think the issue there is that he had been driving on a provisional licence for so long, there must be a reason why didnt go in for his test, statistics show that those who do not tax, insure, maintain, own their cars have many more accidents.

I dont thing for healthy people that age really becomes a factor until nearer 70.

Glad your son was ok, ****ty thin to happen though.

Glad your son is OK.

One of my eldest's mates was hit by an old man the other day, who didn't give way to him on a mini-roundabout, (God, I HATE those things).

As the police were cleasring up, and the lad's Golf was on the verge, two blokes cycled past, and shouted at him, "That's what yopu get for speeding, c*nt!".

He shouted back that he wasn't speeding and it wasn't his fault, at which point the blokes got off their bikes, and assaulted him IN FRONT OF THE POLICE, who ignored it until my lad got involved and afull scale brawl ensued.

The police DID NOT arrest the guys on bikes Oh but they DID threaten to arrest my lad and his mate when they complained.........public order offence, don't y'know? ANOTHER easy £80 then!

OAP drivers, mini-roundabouts, cops.........bah, humbug

The police are pretty keyed up when it comes to info on Vehicles and drivers.

I was stopped by the Police a few night ago (see my thread about driving with front fogs on, LOL). I was in the back of their wee diesel Astra. It's no surprise that when to radioed in they confirmed the make and model matched the plate etc. What i was impressed at was "insured with Groupama and the following drivers are entitled to drive" !

I reckon that's pretty good cos it should result in them catching a few more of those buggers that drive around ininsured (at our bloody cost!).

Slight comedy moment when they breathalized me : The officer said "take a deep breath and blow into the tube". I took a deep breath, and waited for him to pass me the bag. He didn't, I waited a bit longer. I finally couldn't hold my breath any longer and exhaled, both of us were laughing. He then explained He was gonna keep holding the bag, and I had to move my mouth to it .
Anyway "Zero alcohol"

Understandably, you might think that. But in fact the third party can still make a claim against his policy under the terms of the 1988 Road Traffic Act.

Glad he's OK Colin!
It could have been a lot worse as you well know mate.
All the best to you all.

Paul.

Oh and just to be a pendant...They are now RTC's
The police need to apportion blame and they can't do so if it is classed an accident
As far as we're conderned they're still A's thought

Did the other chap have someone else with a full licence with him? Provisionals MUST have a qualified driver over 21 with them else they're breaking the law.

An old dear pulled out infront of me (when I was a young lad) causing an accident. I was driving sensibly and she just came out right at the last minute.

Crazy old tit blamed me and wouldn't admit liablity to her ins co. I had an independant witness who saw everything too. Back then I didn't have legal cover and had to persue her ins co. Took me 7 months of headache to get the money. I eventually sent her a CCJ and that woke her up!

An old lady caused me a bump once, Mk1 Capri, hadnt been driving long, she was crossing the road a at junction and I was to far out and she would have had to go into the main road so I reversed back a bit, into a taxi !

Asian taxi driver was laughing so hard I think he peed himself, ant bothered about his car at all, so we went out separate ways, no harm done.

I had a young car driver very nearly write me off on my motorbike this summer when he pulled out of a side turning!

Just goes to show the the main cause of accidents is not necessarily older drivers.
