Default Currancy guru's.

Anyone have any informed opinion on the £-$ rate over the next 5 days or so?
I've got 2K to change into $'s but can't get at it until Wednesday.

As it happens yes, but in the a £20 difference here of there is hardly anything to worry about. It probably won't drop, it'll probably go over $2.

Nobody has an informed opinion about exchange rates. Even a seasoned spot trader jobs the market minute by minute. Exchange rates are a stochastic process (random), apparently.

Flip a coin!

Random but fairly predictable with economic announcements or certain events.

Predictable once the announcement has been made, you mean?

I worked with a guy at UBS in the 90s, who built a neural network to trade fx. He gave up because of stochasticity.

Yes, of course. But 95% of the time you know what the announcements will be.
