Bought GTA3 (at last) last night. Excellent fun but.........

I'm so bored of the above mission, its the only one available to me and I must have failed 40 times by now Can someone point me in the right direction, as my tactics are obviously wrong. Its the one where you have to kill the donut seller in Chinatown. By the time I've killed his henchmen (the occasions where I dont die first) he's on the run, gets in a car and scarpers, theres never anything available for me to steal and within seconds its : Mission Failed - He's clean away [img]images/smilies/mad.gif[/img] Again!!!!!! [img]images/smilies/mad.gif[/img]

You have to hide your gun then walk towards him trying not to get noticed then when he makes a run for it pull out your gun and shoot him while running you need to master the auto aim so practise on the targets behind the gun shop. Hope this helps

Block his car in. Get a shield first from the docks. **** a hooker to up your health. Run in and kill Chunky spraying his mates on the way.

He's a noodle seller. No wonder you can't get him if you're chasing the doughnut guy!!!

Don't bother trying to shoot him, stay away from the triad blokes and chase him when he runs. Have your car parked in front of his red van so he can't drive off. I ran him over in a taxi.

Nick his car and dump it, move round to the bit where you can see the triad thugs and autoaim on the one to the right (he is the one with the gun) open up on this guy and kill him dead, sprint forwards to catch up with chunky lee chong (the other triads have baseball bats so don't worry) autoaim on him and kill him dead or club him to death with the baseball bat.

chaps, chaps, chaps....

if you drive around chinatown you will see i think 3 entrances with bollards across that stop you driving down, but theres also 3 alleys (and chunky has a car at each one).

Best bet is to find the right alley that comes out right in front of the donut stand

then you shoot once, he legs it, you turn round run back to the car you left (remember to hold down the sprint button to run back to car quicker).

thats how i did it.

In case you don't know, the "sprint button" is the X and he only sprints for a limited time (about 200 yards or so) but he can't half run.

I had loads of grief with this, ended up just storming in there and chasing shooting him, not worrying about the thugs and completed it ok.

Try talking to chunky, he is not a bad bloke once you get to know him. Or just smack his face in with a baseball bat

Nick one of his cars and pay $1000 to get a bomb fitted. Then put it back and make sure you run at him from the opposite direction to force him towards the car with the bomb ... Thats it !

LOL @ Damaja BarryK-The more often you sprint and recuperate the fitter he becomes (apparently)

One last question for a PS2 newbie.......Which button is L3?? Is it depressing the left analog stick???

L3 is indeed the left analogue button, when you get a yardie lobbo you can use the L3 button to make the suspension go up and down, go cruising for some ****** in yer lowrider

L3 is pushing *down* on the left analogue stick, it should make a slight clicking noise when you do it.

And L3 has nothing to do with the Yardie Lobo, other than steering it.

The right analogue stick (note, not pushing down on it, but moving it around) makes the suspension jump on the yardie Lobo. Pushing forward makes the front jump, pushing back makes the back jump, pushing left....you get the idea...

Pushing L3 in any car makes the horn sound. In a police car, ambulance, fire engine, or FBI car, if you push it quickly, it turns the siren on / off.

Pushing R3 in any of the above (and the tank, and the taxi) activates the missions associated with the vehicle. So for the taxi, that's picking up fares, and driving them at break neck speed to their destination. Police, FBI and Tank, is chasing other crims and wasting them. Ambulance is driving poor sick people to hospital as nicely as possible, and in the Fire Engine it's racing to burning cars, and putting them out...

Another piece of advice you may find helpful... Drivebys. As far as I can tell - the manual doesn't tell you how to do it... You need to have an Uzi, and whilst driving, push the shoulder buttons to get the "side-on" view of the car - your chappies shoves his Uzi out the opposite window, and now pushing Triangle lets rip...

I must have a one off edition of GTA3 that when in a yardie lobo the car goes up and down when I push L3 in that case

The Lowriders do go up and down when you press L3.

I'm stuck on a right shi77er, where you have to smash all the sellers stalls on all the citys within 8 min's! What a tw3t.

I'm stuck on staunton island where i have to kill the guys who are watching the chinese girl with a 4 min time limit.

The ones in the park and in the van are easy but the ones standing on the baclonys at the hotel across from the casino are impossible! I can kill all but one and that is because i can't see him. I've tried going on the hill to the left of the casino. climbing the casino with no luck. standing well back. he just never comes into view.

I've gone on to taking missions (carjacking) from the Jamaican guy and now stuck because i can't find a bloody diablo. grrr...

If you go to the front door of the casino you'll notice a path between it and the other building (which you can drive down to the car park) but on the left hand side of this alley is a staircase, climb up this and you'll be on the roof of the casino and can move around so you can see everybody.

The diablo's are located on the first island, so you need to go back across the river around the redlight district and nick one of those black hot roads with the flames and the supercharger sticking out the bonnet, thats a diablo car

I started to chase chunky lee and first time I shot him with a shotgun no probs but didn't save the game. Could do it for ages after that.

Next time as I was chasing him his own guys shot him!

Does anyone else find that the controls for shoot are probably the worst evr designed. It's a good game but would be great if you could actually shoot where you wanted ala Resident evil style. I hate it.

GTA3 Day1 - Eighty twelve attempts to kill 'Chunky', no success[img]images/smilies/mad.gif[/img]

GTA Day2 - 'Chunky' gets it on second attempt I only failed to get him first time cos I was trying to shoot his men with my fist....Doh!!!! I trashed one of his cars and rigged the other. Casually killed his men off whilst awaiting the explosion....sweet!
