Watch out for those flashing orange lights at night people! Got showered by gravel on my way home last night! 2 years worth of stone chips in one night: Fan-bloody-tastic!

in this situation, if my nice shiny car gets covered in grit and loads of scratches, can i claim off the local councils insurance if i've got things like lorry reg, date/time, road details, etc.

or do i just have to put up with someone (unintentionally) damaging my car ?

He has got huge flashing lights on top, and shouldn't be travelling that quickly. Have you considered avoiding them and/or slowing down?

You often can't avoid them Speeding up increases the velocity at which the damn things bounce off, slowing down increases the number of them that hit your car.

Ah, the age old sport of Gritter Racing. I believe it's origins can be trace back to Roman times.

I've almost driven up people's drives to get out of the way of these car wreckers. If I see one coming the other way, I'll quite happily dive down a side road just to miss it.

Paintwork just doesn't stand a chance in this country - gritters in the winter and come summer, loose chippings on the road.

Had to drive down a road with loose chippings on one day after I got my scoob - not pleasant - I was grimacing at every "ting" as another chip met with my precious paintwork. And sticking to 20mph was sod all use cos of all the gits going the other way at 60
