Thumbs down Damaged mobile

In a moment of daftness (drink induced) I managed to drop my mates Sony Erricson K800i. Initial inspection (in the dark on a dancefloor) appears to be a crack/scratch to the screen. Whether thats the outer or the LCD part I couldnt say at this point.

Obviously I'll need to pay for the damage. But looking at Carphone Warehouse site it'll be at least £270 for a SIM free one. Is there any chance they can be repaired or is my CC about to take a bashing? I think he has insurance, but whether he'd want to bugger that up Im not sure at the moment. And I cant really ask him to do that.

what's the point in insurance if he's not gonna use it. You can offer to pay any premium hike he gets next year, it'll be a darn sight less than £270.

Screens can be replaced pretty easily. About £70-£100 depending on the screen and phone. If he has insurance then use it. £25 excess normally. If it was my phone I'd also use guilt into making sure you get the first few rounds in next time we were out. Or at least get you to bluetooth a few naked pics of your girlfriend

Little update

Looked at the phone and thankfully its just the outer shell thats damaged. Mate says the actual screen is OK. Carphone Warehouse and the local Sony store don't sell spare parts. But after a little search I found one for sale in the UK.

Mobile Fun - Mobile Accessories, Phones, Unlocking, Ringtones & more!

Apparently its a genuine one and its cheaper than some on eBay. Store got good reviews on the What Mobile forum so Ive placed an order. Fingers crossed it will be OK.

Powerman,
Thats actually a cover to go over the top of the phone. Like a leather pouch. Its not a replacement cover as such.
