It's already in force, in a way, with the congestion charge in london.

However, the Government wants to put black boxes in cars to see how many miles you have driven and charge you accordingly. (with the added bonus of seeing exactly where you have been).

If only there were some way to charge people per mile without the invasion into privacy and million of tax payers money setting up a black box scheme... you know, like fuel duty or something.

I'm sure it won't be long until people start buying lead boot liners which just happen to block out the satellite link, or get the boxes chipped.
Not me, obviously...

Yes, but we get all the extra money back in the form of better schools, healthcare and better equiped armed forces etc!

.......................... (and in the style of Borat) NOT!

If i ever had a black box fitted i'd cover it with tin foil to block the signal!

We alreay pay-as-you-drive with the tax we pay on fuel. Paying for milage rather than fuel is unfair as its a flat rate. Us scooby drivers pay for our thirsty motors in fuel tax. Fair enough. Then for the government to add a milage tax as well will lead to riots!
