Crayfish Trapping
Anyone done or currently doing this? Going through the Environment Agency at the moment to get a traping license and then I'm off trapping. Any hints, tips or tricks most welcome.

That boke on River cottage seemed to make it look a piece of ****, one trap, one dead rabbit, leave in the river for a couple of days and bobs your uncle, loads of crayfish.
Never tried em but if they taste like Lobster and are free then i'm up for maybe trying it too.
Good luck M8, let us know how u get on

Got to wait for the license to arrive before trapping commences but I will let you all know how it goes.

Is that the species where the Amercian Crayfish being more aggresive have virtually wiped out the native population? Bloody yanks get everywhere.

We saw a family with mini crab pots and mini crayfish pots in Aberaeron last Saturday. Looked like they were having a whale of a time.

I bought 3 traps off eBay a year or so ago but still not used em! Even got all the paperwork from the EA too. They like you to specify exact grid refs etc then they'll vet them all. sounded like a real effort but they do taste so nice and they are free!

I used to fish in the lakes at Badshot Lea and they are full of crayfish. We caught them all day long on any meaty bait. There were traps that were like little lobster pots with a fish in them for bait. They would empty them TWICE a day!!
These were American Signal crays.
