Adam

If you reserve one now £350 delivered. One week after launch they will be £400. Database should be as good as Geodesy.

I gotta say the only thing about the Geodesy that bothers me is the type of camera thing. If it's dark and you don't actually see the camera u are warned about then if it's SPECS it'll still get you over the average speed - assuming of course you exceed the legal limit

by the way, there is more info if you go to

http://www.originbluei.com/newsletter.

Just been reading up. Becvause it knows your speed it can choose to only alert you when you are exceeding the limit. How cool is that?

Very pleased with this purchase. Hope database is up to scratch, but they offer the same reqrd programme of £50 if you are the first accurate spotter. It is more expensive at £50/year though!

Tony / Adam,

Is this unit considerably better than geodessy. Have any of you guys used other detectors? I am thinking of buying one and would like your opinions.

Thanks,

Andy

Andrew,

I did own a geodesy but have decided I prefer this. Since at teh moment there is only £10 in new price I thought it was worth a try.

I have a bel euro 550, which I am more than happy with, and will not be getting rid of this as it still protects me from the Ku band safety vans aprked all over essex, and no gps based warning device will alert me to those.

This product appears to be better than teh geodesy on the basis it tells you the type of speed trap, and therefore can alert you to maintain your average speed in the case of a specs camera. It also tells you tyhe speed limit in the area which I always thought would be a useful feature for the geodesy.

The fact that it monitors your speed is great. the idea that you can set it to warn you if your own speed is greater than the speed limit in the proximity of a camera is fantastic.

plus information on what raod you are on and a constant indicator of how many satellites are tracking you is a great idea.

The only thing against this is potentially the number of cameras they have on their database. I have no doubt this feature will not catch me out as I tend to drive only to major cities, and as time goes on more will be recorded, especially with the £50 reward per accurate new sighting.

Gutted now, that thing does everything I'd like the Geodesy to do!! I've heard of an upgrade for the Geodesy but can't find anything online, anyone have details?

Jack, I heard the upgrade was for the aftermarket fitting of gps.

Nothing of this sort, and it certainly will not have an add on lcd screen!

It should be pointed out that this is quite a big unit at 10 by 7 by 3 cm whereas the geodesy is relatively small and compact.

I am going to try it, but dont assume it is going to be better.

Don't get me wrong I'm still way happy with what I have, it does what it says on the tin and does it well. I'm just a sucker for features and this thing is brimming.

I'm sure that someone on here even went as far as quoting an upgrade price of £95 for the next model.

Question

But who's behind this? Sounds good, but what happens if the company goes to the wall - you loose your money.

I'd like to know some more about how strong they are before forking out. I couldn't find anything on their website about backers.

The Geodessy has some track record here - it's been around for a year or two now and still going strong (?).

How long before somebody combines a 'radar' and GATSO detector? Now that would be neat.

I actually cant see that happeing as they are designed for different things.

The gps based models are sold on their no false alarms features. These although great do not cater for KU band which is my main fear. Those little b@stards in blank white "safety" vans.

A gps/ku detector/laser jammer would without doubt be the best thing on the market. Since it is one third/illegal, I have a feeling a legitimate gps based detector producer wouldn't want part of it!

Adam M,

Once we get the units delivered, i reckon we (and anyone else on here) should put a decent review together for the unit and post it up so it can be compared with the Geodesy. You game ?

I'd like to see your thoughts chaps 'cos I've been using a Geodesy for a year now and whilst it's brilliant, I like a few of the new features this unit offers, like the type of camera display, and mostly the fact that it displays the limit in the area you are in at the time.
The number of times I've been far from home and my Geodesy's squeaked at me and I've been unsure if I'm in a 30 or a 40 have been too many to count

In Answer to chuckster, I have a geodessey and it is fine through specs cameras as it beeps and flashes the whole way through.

On another note
The Bluei looks v.good, wish the geodessey had some of those features. Looks a bit big to have to put in your pocket every time you leave the car, and I wouldnt want to leave it in.

I would still feel vulnerable to the hand helds and vascars though. Luckily everytime I have seen one of these its been busy or urban traffic and I havent been speeding.

I think for total peace of mind you would need.

Geodyssey type thing £380-£400
Front/Rear Laser Jammers £500
Police Scanner £????

And with the false readings off all 3 you would probably never speed anyway.

Boys & Girls

I am trying to arrange a Group Buy based on 20 units if anybody wants to hang on. I am waiting for a phone call back from the manufacturer who will probably front the deal through Networx Automotive.

Regards

I have a police scanner and it was very good in OZ. Used to save us every time we were taking part in illegal drag racing in factory areas late at night. No traffic to bother there. The problem is that in OZ and I'd say the UK the police radio frequencies are going to change to digital. It does not pick up digital signals, only analogue. I used to be able to pick up analogue mobile phones. When they changed to digital it was all over for the scanner.

In Greece the Police already have digital radios and I cannot pick them up.

So it is packed away in it's box now. It is the Uniden Bearcat 200.

Cheers,

Wrexy.

Guys, I cant imagine a groupo buy will be succesful.

There is an introductory discount of £50 already. Price will be £399 after this wave of orders.

Do you really think they will knock off more?

As I said I am waiting for Tim to call me back. He did not dismiss the idea, and I am sure that he would like to re-coup his R&D costs ASAP. I will post more once he has called me. If it happens great, if not then fair enough, but there is no harm in trying.

I have just spoken to David Baxter @ Networx Automotive. The group buy will basically be at £350 delivered for all orders received by 15th NOVEMBER 2001.

The units will ship between the 15th & 30th November. Suffice to say that the work that has gone into this product is enormous. Database is said to be more comprehensive than similar products and the updates will be very frequent.

David will start a new post for all interested parties, so please contact him direct on 01555 666444.

Cheers
