Default Mystery "Explosion" in Cornwall

BBC NEWS | England | Cornwall | Mystery 'explosion' damages homes

Anyone in Cornwall experience this today? Pretty weird, they don't know what it was, they've said it wasn't a plane, it wasn't an earthquake and it wasn't an explosion "as there was no smoke". There was damage to property and a lot of people heard it.

wonder if that's connected to the jet that went down today..... (forgotten where abouts it was so could be totally irrelevant )

Didn't realise that sarasquares was on holibobs in Bude.

There once once a lady in Bude
Who went for a swim in the nude
A man in a punt
Stuck his pole up her ear
And she said "Good Lord, how rude"

If it was that Tornado crash....it was a feckin' big bang! 'Cos it went down in Suffolk. About as far away from Cornwall as you get.

My money's on a naughty UFO going supersonic before leaving the atmosphere. Or some clown yank (it would have to be - we don't have anything that goes supersonic that easily any more) pushing the gate a little too wide.

SB

PS One of my suggestions wasn't entirely serious. Before you start.
PPS I'll leave it to you to work out which...

Question

Surely a sonic boom wouldn't cause damage like that?

Could well be the Aurora hypersonic aircraft.

Mystery Aircraft - Aurora

A Mach 4+ sonic boom could perhaps give off some unusual shock waves which could cause damage that was reported.

My parents live in Bude and my dad was telling me about this. Couldnt believe how loud it was and everyone came out of their houses to see what was going on.
