If he is adept at this sort of thing then it should be okay. If he wanted a fast car why didn't he buy a fast one in the first place?

You might as well ask most scooby owners that question.

I was just thinking about all the threads that go....

"Just bought a mint, unmolested Turbo 2000... let the modding begin".

Surely improving on the original cannot be a bad thing can it?

If he's bought a bluefin, any idiot can fit it.

As for the performance of the 2.2 tdci, it's got one hell of an engine and amazing overtaking ability.

I don't think it's two 1.3's strapped together as I thought total capcity was just 1.3l. As for it being a turbo, is that as standard? I didn't think even the mazdaspeed RX-8 was turbocharged. I know Greddy make a turbo kit for the RX-8 thought.

As for the mondeo, depends on what the chip is meant to do, if it's just got an updated map on it then it's possibly just plug and play so you don't need to do anything with it.

An RX-8 is a 1.3, just like my 2 RX-7's have been (2 x 654cc). The RX-8 is also normally aspirated.

There is nothing to fitting a plug and play chip to a car. If you can change the battery in a remote control you can do it, actually mapping a car is a completely different kettle of fish.
