Default Watches

Hi Guys,

After a bit of advise please - as normal

I want to get my Dad a new watch as a thank you present for helping me out recently. I'm looking to spend around 100 quid, so nothing exotic.

Knowing his tastes, I think he'd like something that looks like this - http://www.hsamuel.co.uk/webstore/de...Ns=P_Brand%7c0

However, I know nothing about watches. Are Seiko any good (relative the the sort of money)? If not, what would people recommend around this price please - and where from too?

Thanks,

Steve

Most watches around that money aren't going to be fantastic especially 'dress' watches.

That said Poljot do some nice sports watches (don't know about dress watches) and Seiko are above average quality. I wouldn't buy ANYTHING from H Samuels though.

That place linked to above looks like a good bet. Only reason I suggest to avoid H Samuel is that they are reputed to have some of the worst items/customer service in the UK. Never used them myself, most of my watches bought in the UK were either bought from ebay (good source for Seikos) or this place

Not bad quality for the money.

Seiko are great watches, probably technically better than many "luxury" brands.

For that sort of budget I'd definately go with a Seiko, have a look on Ebay for Seiko Kinetic Arctura models.
