SKY Broadband - Slooooowwwwww
Has anyone on SKY Broadband connect noticed that its sooooo slooooowwww?
I'm on the £17.99 a month up to 8MB package, although my area is closer to 1 - 1.5MB speed.
I can't even watch streaming movies such as youtube etc
Its just keeps saying "buffering".... Its like wireless dial-up!

don't know if it's some marketing ploy or whatever, but I'm paying for a 10mb link - but when tested I was only getting about 750kbs - so phoned the suppliers and suggested they had the wrong speed setting for my connection - presto, it went up to 4.5mbs.
phoned again a few days later and complained again; connection speed is now about 8.5mbs

Im with BT supposed to be 2mb line speed, its more like 500k at the moment. was considering goin over to sky for the tenner a month package, but would that improve the speeds?
are they determined by the supplier or by BT??
cant even stream youtube either without waiting for it to download first

It depends where you are in the country: Most of Sky's packages are based on a BT Line. They are enabling exchanges for special Sky equipment (LLU) as the months progress.
Your speed depends on the quality of the line, and the distance from the exchange. If you complain to your ISP (BT?) they may do some tests on your line or you can go to another ISP and they will retest the line and put you on the fastest package.
http://www.adslguide.org.uk always has good advice.
In general, I would say with Sky you get what you pay for. And the service is not going to be very good. We will see I guess.
