Default Mousehole - Cornwall

My wife & I are taking our 10mth old daughter for her 1st holiday down to Mousehole in October. I have visited Mousehole about 10 years ago and remember it as a picture postcard Cornish fishing village, which I hope it remains. Always rember parking was a b1tch.

Can any SNetters suggest good pubs/restaurants in Mousehole and family things to do whilst we are down there? We have my parents popping down to stay for a few days so we have babysitters.

Hmmmmm yes,seems you are right.

I've been there a few times - have friends in Penzance.

What are you looking for? There are plenty of places nearby - the hotel/guesthouse will be able to advise you.

One place I'd suggest (if it's open and the weather is good) is the Minack theater.

Sorry can't be of more help.

Like you haven't been there for years but cracking village and the streets can't have got any wider!! Looks like you will be going after the caravan season which helps.

Newlyn was great for restaurants and old pubs. And fresh fish of course. Oodles of farms etc for days out. Just dig out some leaflets from a Little Chef or something on the way down. Or a bit of Google before the trip.

As you'll know pronounced "Mowzzsull" or close to that

You have to go to the meadery in Newlyn, It is basic food done very well, we used to go for all out birthdays etc, there isnt much in mousehole now. it only comes to life in summer and christmas not many local people can live there now. Not been to the pub there for a long time, but a good local pint is called HSD or Doom Bar, Penzance is the best for takeouts, the full house at the top of chapel street is best for Chinese go for the B2 I will have a think for more around, I lived around Pz for 25 years

The Coastguard in Mousehole serves good food. It's on the left entering Mousehole from Newlyn.

When thinking about Mousehole I (as a former lifeboatman), can't help remembering about the Penlee lifeboat disaster

We had lunch at the Old Coastguard last month. Very nice food and really helpful, friendly staff. Also not a bad place to park to walk into town (there's a big pay and display next door too). Picked up a leaflet and the rooms look good.

I thought Mousehole was lovely (nice Ice Creams and Pasties in the village too). We were staying down the road in St Ives.

Looks like the Old Coastguard is favourite then.

We have booked Mariners Cottage which I think from the pictures is left of the harbour on the seafront as you look at Mousehole from the sea. Hopefully an ideal position and it looks as though I can fish from the end of the garden at high tide. We have been told that the Pay and Display Carpark is only 100yds from our cottage and advised to park there for our stay. I pressume there must be 2 carparks at either side of Mousehole? I can only remember 1 on the far side of the harbour.

Really looking forward to the break and some quality family time.

Would really appreciate that 555-Shaggy so I can show my wife where she's going and hopefully allay a few fears. Thanks.
