IT bods, data retention?
Quick IT related Q
are there any legislation or other employment requirements on the retention of emails sent / recieved by a company?
if so, what are they, and how do they work. Also how do you go about recovering them, or requesting them?

not 100% certain that it is legislation at the moment, we have been putting in a number of different solutions primarily to the legal sector, for email archive and compliance
Kryoserver is one that springs to mind,
There is I believe a form (costs a couple of quid) whereby you can requested any communication that has involved you (email, memo's etc) has to be provided to you, and the company cannot refuse
I dont know too much about that, and stand to be corrected, as im only going off what I have been told in the past
FWIW most companies couldnt provide you with ALL correspondence regarding you, as I know a lot of companies backup policies

FSA Regs mean we need to keep a lot of data, email being one of the mediums we need to 'keep' to some extent - unsure if thats due to FSA though.. I dont get too involve and cant say too much
