Storey and a half vs two storey valuation
Is there a rough guide to comparing the valuation of a house that is of storey and a half construction compared with a two storey house of similar floor area - all other things being equal (which of course they are not)?

Depends if the loft has conversion potential in the 2 storey of course.
A 2 storey should always be worth more, but can't advise as to how much more if that helps...which it doesn't

I know I can get a surveyor at great expense, but trying to compare the value of a rebuilt from ruins stone Victorian stable that is storey and a half, has little land without much done to it, convoluted access arrangements, little in the way of views, poor internal joinery and needs bathroom work but with loads of space, with a very attractive original stone Victorian two storey manse that has four times the land, excellent access but with seclusion and trees galore, but may have all the fun that comes with an original Victorian property and is less spacious in terms of floor area, but has at least as many rooms that are a smaller (but supposedly ideal) size with lots of light and high ceilings.
Following my previous thread I need to get what seems to be value for money in the present climate. I'm asking impossible questions I know!

The upside is a far nicer class of property, and lovely big high ceilings and real fireplaces Plus lots of space to put a contemporary kitchen/dining extension on to suit more modern living requirements etc.
