I work for Woolworths and we are having Christmas stability meetings in IT, its a cutthroat businees, we dont make much/any money the rest of the year, its all to do with what they call the 'Golden Quarter' when we actually turn a decent profit, the customers want the stuff there at low prices so thats what they provide, also its a huge effort to get enough (right) product from the suppliers who are mainly in the Far East, into the country and through the warehouses into the shops and onto the shelves.
Plus if one shops does it, the others have to.
So remember to get all (well not all, that wouldnt work) your Christmas stuff from Woolworths !
(Just testing SN policy)

our busiest day is always Christmas eve, and that's a car wash not a shop
IIRC 426 cars went through mine last Christmas eve alone
i think we could have done 500 if things had of went a little more "smoothly"

I did the shop in my local Sainos, and they had advent calendars. WTF ?
It`s still summer up here, probably even more so down Sarf.
Can`t really understand their marketing procedure, getting earlier every year.
Does it encroach people to get into even more debt???
It puts more pressure on us parents and honest working folk.
I know an advent calendar won`t break the bank, its just annoying
Rant over

I used to think the same until I worked for Woolies, honest the whole place exists for Christmas and its customers.
If you dont want it yet, dont buy it until you are are ready (from Woolworths)

anything over 300 cars is set for an extra bonus of £1 per car
"you will never get that many mick" the lads cried
we did, around 320ish in my first winter on the best day, but last year, we were running things "my way" and the results spoke for themselves, bet the ******* put up the bonus threshhold this year LOL

I've started getting a few of the pressies. Moreso the big stuff
But it was quite depressing that the food/fodder has started appearing in the supermarkets
I'm a Lecturer, and whilst we started with students last week, it breaks down to 5 weeks until half term. Week off (students, not staff before you all start b1tching!) then 6 weeks until they break up for THAT time of year. It's a late break up this year too (circa 22nd December), but they go back quite late (nearly mid-Jan).....
The rest of this year is going to go VERY quickly
