Whilst leaving my local Halfaurds today (was only buying some paint) a muslim guy came up to me and said "you look like a boy racer, d'ya wanna but a steering wheel for ya motor"

I said no thank you (repeatedly), and went to my car.....when he eventually took no for an answer.

Was only afterwards a few things occured to me.....

1) How dare he call me a boy racer (i am 26, and wasn't wearing anything chavvy, no piercings, no baseball hat, track suit etc...and i wasn't driving my Impreza)

2) If i had replied "really...well you look like a suicide bomber" would he have been offended?

It's only a guess, but perhaps he was pissed off at you assuming he was a Muslim

Just incase it wasn't clear from my first post, i was leaving the shop, and was in the carpark when the guy (NOT a Halfords employee) came up to me.

My point is it's ok for him to assume something about me and call me a name, but would have been different it someone had called him a name i bet.

He ASSUMED i was a boy racer, i ASSUMED he was a Muslim.

Difference is i didn't shoot my mouth off, he did.

In the same way he could have said "you like like a car enthusiast", but he chose to use a term that i find offensive.
