Why cant it just be easy. Trying to pay my Anglian Water bill using online banking but keep getting a message saying invalid account number even though the bill says account number 2251647. Anyone know in simple terms what Im doing wrong?

According to my Anglian Water bill, their account number is 90011916 with sort code 20-43-63.

Are you sure you're not trying to use your Anglian Water account number, instead of their bank account number?

Im inputting the "credit account number" their sort code on the bill is 25-26-47. Seems strange that its different from yours.

I can't see anything described as a "credit account number" on my bill.
Maybe it's just a different format.

I'm reading from the section "Home or Telephone banking" on the back of the bill:

Well I got it sorted in the end... Strange that there is a completely different account number and sorting code on the paying bill bit but on the back its as dharbidge says, another account to use should have checked there first really but all my other bills use the paying slip at the bottom...
